Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders criticized the decision to hold next week’s presidential debate virtually saying that it would be impossible to hold a meaningful back-and-forth exchange if the parties were separated.

Sanders made her comments on Fox and Friends.

Thursday’s announcement by the Commission on Presidential Debates drew the ire of President Donald Trump who appeared on the Fox Business with Maria Bartiromo. “The commission changed the debate style and that’s not acceptable to us,” he said.

Sanders said that the president was right to push back against the commission’s decision. “I also think the commission was wrong not to have discussed it with the presidential campaigns before making that announcement.”

The Biden campaign released a statement saying that they “look forward to speaking directly to the American People.”

Trump accused the debate commission of protecting his opponent. “We’ll pass on this sad excuse to bail out Joe Biden and do a rally instead.”

The presidential debate was scheduled to take place on Oct 15, in Miami, Florida.

CNN will try a second time to have a streaming service after the short-lived CNN+ didn’t go as planned. The network launched its new streaming hub, CNN Max, on Thursday.

Furthermore, CNN Max will only be available on Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max, even though it is still in Beta. CNN Max borrows heavily from its existing linear networks, CNN U.S. and CNN International; unlike the first attempt, the network launched a streaming service.

“CNN Max is part of an open beta for news that will enable experimentation and learnings with product features, content offerings, and original storytelling, all with the input and feedback from the Max community,” the press release said.

“This new 24/7 streaming service will bring the immediacy and value of global breaking news with top analysis, context, and reporting across all the biggest stories in the world to the Max streaming audience and enhance the product with the convenience of viewing news at anytime, anywhere, and on your preferred screen.”

The new streaming platform won’t rely solely on what’s on their linear networks. CNN Max will create original news content with anchors like Amara Walker, Fredricka Whitefield, Jim Acosta, Rahel Solomon, and Jim Sciutto.

A new book by Michael Wolff investigates what it alleges is the “downfall” of Fox News. The content of the publication has struck a chord with former Fox News host Greta Van Susteren.

In a post to X, the current Newsmax host shared she had begun reading The Fall: The End of Fox News and the Murdoch Empire by Wolff, and was saddened by its contents.

“When I left Fox 7+ yrs ago, I was stunned to read that a huge ‘drama’ had been going on in NYC headquarters (I worked in DC Bureau),” Van Susteren wrote. “And now I am an hour into (Michael Wolff’s) new book and stunned to hear what has gone on since I left. Very disappointing. I enjoyed my time there reporting and now it has so many more problems. Never ends. Very sad for those committed to doing journalism there.”

Greta Van Susteren worked at Fox News from 2002 until September 2016, when she resigned abruptly, saying the network “has not felt like a home for many years”.

Wolff’s book has come under fire in recent days. The author claims the entirety of its content is credibly sourced. However, reports claim that the contents were never fact-checked with Fox News or Fox Corp.

Additionally, Wolff has claimed he reached out to all the major players involved in the book, but both Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham have privately contended they were never contacted. Wolff also claimed that Tucker Carlson revealed to him that 2024 Presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) kicked his dog during a dinner at the former cable news host’s home. Carlson has vehemently denied making any such accusation.

In an interview with Jeff Katz on WRVA, O’Reilly revealed he had interviewed with Carlson to promote his latest book Killing the Witches: The Horrors of Salem, Massachusetts.

Tucker Carlson is continuing his debate counter-programming with another high-profile interview. This time, he’ll sit down with another former Fox News host: Bill O’Reilly.

Carlson famously dropped an interview with former President Donald Trump before the first Republican Presidential debate that was scheduled to air on Fox News. Carlson was let go from the cable outlet in April of this year.

Many suggested Carlson was looking to harm the ratings for the first Presidential debate, in which Trump refused to participate. Carlson has continually claimed the Trump campaign approached him with the idea and not vice versa.

The next Republican Presidential debate is scheduled for tonight at 9:00 PM ET and will air on FOX Business Network and Univision.

In an interview with Jeff Katz on WRVA, O’Reilly revealed he had interviewed with Carlson to promote his latest book Killing the Witches: The Horrors of Salem, Massachusetts.

Like Carlson, O’Reilly was ousted by Fox News unceremoniously in 2017. However, his departure was tied to the revelation that several colleagues accused of him of sexual harassment, with O’Reilly paying settlements to resolve the cases.
