Stephanie Hamil and Sebastian Gorka Examine Media Bias

Media members normally shy away from admitting bias in their reporting. Not so for OANN’s Stephanie Hamill. She openly embraced the conservative bias in her show (In Focus) in an interview with Sebastian Gorka Tuesday evening on his program America First. The pair of conservative media members also discussed the differences between liberal and conservative media bias.

“I don’t pretend not to be biased like some people,” Hamill told Gorka. “I admit it. I am biased. I am a conservative. I don’t hide it. I do have a conservative message on my show and I will keep speaking out even though it is unpopular among members of the mainstream media.”

Gorka argued, however, that having an openly conservative spin on the news is not bias.

“Let me just correct you,” Gorka interrupted. “Conservatives are not biased. We are just on the right side of the truth, we are not biased. It’s everybody else who is biased. We don’t have an ideology. They have an ideology. We believe in the truth, that’s the big difference.”

The conservative slant of media members like Gorka and Hamil seems to be growing in popularity with media consumers. Hamill asserted in the same interview with Gorka, that OANN is “Doing really well.” and that “According to Ren Track Data, we are #10 (network) overall and #4 for news”. OANN touted the same information in a press release, but since OANN does not subscribe to traditional methods of tracking viewership numbers, it is difficult to ascertain whether those claims are accurate.

No matter what the viewership numbers are, Gorka and Hamill addressed several issues throughout the rest of the interview designed to appeal to a conservative viewer. Gorka claims that more than 30 percent of Democrats think that President-Elect, Mr. Joe Biden, stole the 2020 election. Gorka called Mr. Biden “Beijing Biden” at one point.

“When you look at the media today, there has been an almost complete blackout of covering the evidence of election fraud,” Hamill agreed. “These people with evidence are risking everything to come forward and present evidence at these hearings and nobody will cover it fully. I think OANN was the only network to air the entire hearings.”

Gorka closes the segment by criticizing California’s Corona Virus restrictions.

“In California, you can go to a strip club and to Wal-Mart, but you can’t go to church,” he said. “It’s a dangerous cocktail of arrogance and ignorance.”

Last week, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) allegedly pulled a fire alarm at the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to derail a vote about funding the government. Buck Sexton joked that topics like this make radio fun.

To begin The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show Monday, Sexton joked that because he was moving last week, he wasn’t certain the story was actually true.

“The most interesting thing that I saw the moment when I was thinking, ‘Wow, this is where it’s fun to be on the radio’, Clay. This is when you have something to discuss. The pulling of a fire alarm by Congressman Jamaal Bowman and the efforts to try to explain this away over the course of the weekend,” said Sexton.

After playing a clip of an MSNBC anchor reading a statement that Bowman claimed it was an accident, Sexton asked Travis how many times he’s accidentally pulled a fire alarm, “Because I know the answer for me is zero”, Sexton said.

“I think this is one so fun because it’s so profoundly stupid,” Travis said with a laugh. The OutKick founder then told a story that he recently set off the alarm at a New York City hotel by opening a fire escape door on the ground level.

“I can’t imagine anybody over the age of like five or six intentionally doing that. And trying to make an excuse because there is no defense in that position,” surmised Travis.

The Hurley in the Morning Charity Dinner & Silent Auction, hosted by Harry Hurley of Atlantic City’s WPG, is renowned as one of America’s most esteemed local talk radio-related charities.

Last week, the 15th year of this event took place at the iconic Ocean Ballroom at Resorts Casino Hotel. Over 263 paid guests graced the occasion, including prominent elected officials, business leaders, luminaries from the broadcast industry, and various members of the community.

The keynote speaker for this year’s event was Brian Kilmeade, a well-known personality from Fox News Radio and Fox News Channel. Kilmeade was also kind enough to sign copies of his upcoming historical book titled Teddy and Booker T.: How Two American Icons Blazed a Path for Racial Equality. Additionally, the event’s first-ever lifetime achievement award was presented to former State Sen. Bill Gormley (R-NJ).

Since its inception, the Hurley in the Morning Charity Foundation has successfully raised more than $1.3 million to support non-profit public service organizations across New Jersey and beyond, including the Broadcasters Foundation of America. In recognition of this remarkable charity work, both houses of the legislature officially declared this past Friday as “Harry Hurley Day” in Atlantic County, New Jersey.

It’s worth highlighting that Brian Kilmeade’s participation in the event faced last-minute jeopardy due to severe flooding in New York City on that very day. Despite the challenging weather conditions, Kilmeade’s dedication to being the guest of honor and keynote speaker was extraordinary, as Harry Hurley noted.

Terry Foxx Named Director of Talk Programming at iHeart San Antonio and Austin

iHeartMedia has announced Terry Foxx has been named the Director of Talk Programming for clusters in San Antonio and Austin.

Foxx will be “responsible for redefining” the news and sports talk stations in the Texas markets, which includes News Radio 1200 WOAI and Ticket 760 in San Antonio, and AM 1300 The Zone in Austin.

The San Antonio stations currently serve as the flagship for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs and the nationally syndicated news/talk program The Joe Pags Show. In Austin, iHeartMedia serves as the flagship station of the University of Texas Longhorns athletic programs.

“I’m very excited to work with iHeartMedia and its group of stations in Austin and San Antonio, along with the great people that help make it successful.
