Veteran Los Angeles Emmy award-winning TV reporter Daniel Cohen has been tapped by Newsmax to head its new Middle East bureau.

Cohen, a recent transplant to Israel, told the company’s website that he’s pleased to be joining the Newsmax news team.

“I moved my family to Israel so they could understand our heritage better and being able to share real stories from the Middle East with American viewers will be a labor of love.”

Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy touts the Middle East as, “extremely important regarding geopolitical issues for American interests.”

“We’re pleased to have Daniel Cohen, a savvy, experienced news anchor with a keen ability to communicate complex matters to the public, as our person in the region,” Ruddy added.

Cohen, who is becoming fluent in Hebrew, earned numerous Emmys for his reporting on fires and a FA-18 fighter jet crash in San Diego 13 years ago.

Newsmax TV is now carried in more than 100 million homes.
