Journalist Katie Couric has been hired to co-author a report that will analyze how people can distinguish false information.

“The Commission on Information Disorder” is being funded by progressive philanthropist Craig Newmark who founded Craigslist.

Couric has been in the crosshairs of several misinformation controversies herself, including most recently the revelation that she arbitrarily censored a portion of an interview with late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

“Users need to understand how information reaches them and have the tools that can help them distinguish fact from falsehood, honesty from manipulation, and the trustworthy from the fringe,” the November Commission on Information Disorder report reads.

The commission’s website said it will deliver a set of “short term and long term goals to help government, the private sector, and civil society respond to this modern-day crisis of faith in key institutions.”
