News/Talk radio station AM 740 KVOR in Colorado Springs will have new leadership. In a press release obtained by Barrett Media, Cumulus Media announced that Ryan Kaufman has received a promotion to Program Director.
“This is a well-deserved opportunity for Ryan. He’s a rising star in our business, and you won’t find anyone more dedicated to and passionate about his trade,” Scott Jones, Vice President/Market Manager, said.
“Ryan’s instincts are spot on, and when you combine that with his tremendous work ethic, you achieve great results. I’m excited for us, for Ryan, and especially, for our listeners.”
Kaufman takes over the post from Bobby Irwin with his new position with the News/Talk radio station. He will also maintain his current role as Program Director of Sports/Talk station XTRA Sports 1300/KCSF-AM.
“Taking over a heritage station like KVOR is an amazing opportunity. Whether it’s Sports or News/Talk, the most important thing is the ability to engage in a conversation with the listener, talking about the issues that matter to them and keeping them informed,” Kaufman said.
“KVOR has been leading that conversation in Southern Colorado for decades with thought-provoking hosts and unrivaled news coverage. I look forward to working alongside News Director Jim Arthur to not just maintain that standard but exceed it.”
Despite departing the News/Talk side, Irwin will remain with Cumulus. He will continue as Operations Manager of the Cumulus Colorado Springs station group and in his Program Director roles for 98.1 KKFM-FM (Classic Rock) and 92.9 Peak FM/KKPK-FM (Adult Contemporary).
“Ryan is a quiet giant in our building. Through his focus and hard work, VP/Market Manager Scott Jones and I believe Ryan has earned the chance to take the lead on KVOR and continue the momentum of our premiere News/Talk brand,” Irwin said.
