KIRO (Newsradio 97.3 FM)/Seattle launches the “Fallen Officer Memorial Fund,” which will be part of an online auction benefitting the families of the two uniformed officers killed in the line of duty in Washington State.

The online auction began at noon (PT) on Tuesday, April 5, and concludes at 6 pm (PT) on Friday, April 8, and will be distributed to the families of Deputy Sheriff Dominique Calata of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and Officer Dan Rocha of the Everett Police Department.

Funds for the fallen officer’s families were put together by Tacoma-Pierce County CrimeStoppers and Victim Support Services, Coastal Community Bank, respectively.

“One of our company’s core values is to ‘lift, inspire and help others.’ I cannot think of a more meaningful way to use our voice and resources than to help the families of these officers,” Bonneville Seattle SVP and Market Manager Cathy Cangiano said in a statement

“Our afternoon host, John Curley, initiated the idea, and the natural progression of heart-felt support from the rest of the KIRO Newsradio staff has been a source of great pride for us all at Bonneville Seattle.”

Those bidding in the online auction will have an opportunity to win Seahawks and Mariners suite tickets, Kraken tickets and lunch with Kraken CEO Tod Leiweke, dinner at El Gaucho with a visit from John Curley, a virtual golf experience at Five Iron Golf with Dori Monson, a round of golf for two at Chamber’s Bay.

Other prizes that bidders can win are a Seattle Morning News Experience, lunch delivered by Gee Scott and Ursula Reutin, a VIP Paul McCartney Concert experience, Mariners All-Star Club tickets with a visit from Jack Stine, a Bellevue Collection “Date Night” package, and a Truce Spa package.

Brian Kilmeade: Debate Candidates Could Learn From Radio Hosts

“But at one point when you’re arguing, you have to think about the listener and you have to be quiet.”

One of the biggest takeaways from the second 2024 Republican Presidential debate was candidates speaking over one another, with some observers questioning if the moderators lost control or not. Fox News host Brian Kilmeade argued the candidates could learn something from radio hosts about the issue.

During an appearance on 77 WABC’s Sid and Friends in the Morning, Kilmeade told Sid Rosenberg that even though the candidates were given the rules, they still continually talked over one another. He believes it shows a lack of care for what the audience consumes from the debate, and equated the situation to a radio show.

“We do this every day,” Brian Kilmeade said. “You’re gonna go engage, you’ll bring people in to Sid and Friends, and they disagree with you. But at one point when you’re arguing, you have to think about the listener and you have to be quiet. ‘Okay, listen, we’re talking over each other. I’m gonna lay out after maybe five seconds’.

“These guys didn’t stop for about a minute and a half, where we couldn’t make out one word that was said. Nobody had a sense that nothing that we were seeing was coming across. And I was astounded by that.”

Rosenberg agreed, calling it “very amateurish”.

Audio 1 has announced the Jason Lee & Kluck program will be nationally syndicated by the upstart media company.

The show featuring Jason and Warren “Kluck” has more than 40 years of combined radio experience. Currently, the program is heard on Federated Media owned 103.9 The Bear in South Bend and 98.9 The Bear in Fort Wayne. The program debuted in 2010.

“We’re beyond thrilled that a company as well-regarded as Audio 1 would show such a glaring lack of judgment in believing that our lunacy should be foisted upon a larger public,” Kluck stated.

“We are energized to find a show with irreverence and fun for everyone that not only plays on a rock format in the mid-west, but that can play on any format in any market,” Audio 1 Director of Programming Mike Ragz said.

The show will continue to be heard from 6:00-10:00 AM ET. Additionally, the pair will continue to produce the Here’s Your Freakin’ Podcast that Audio 1 will distribute.
