There’s a new face coming to KCBS All News (KCBS-AM) in San Francisco. Bret Burkhart has joined the station as a news anchor and reporter.

“We are incredibly fortunate that Bret is continuing his already illustrious career as an anchor for his hometown KCBS,” Stacey Kauffman, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy San Francisco, said in a press release obtained by Barrett News Media

“He brings to KCBS a comprehensive and complex skill set that we will all benefit from. Bret knows politics, the Bay Area, what makes a good story, and how to tell it, and we look forward to welcoming him aboard.”

Burkhart isn’t a stranger to the San Franciso market, having spent the past 23 years at KGO Radio. During his stay the Bay Area radio veteran served as the anchor for the station’s morning and midday shows.

“KCBS is the gold standard for news around the Bay Area and beyond, and I feel so fortunate to be joining an amazing group of broadcasters and storytellers,” Burkhart said.

Along with San Francisco, Burkhart has also had stops at Newstalk 1060 KPAY in Chico, CA, and KFBK Radio in Sacramento.

Syndicated radio Chris Plante says the media is covering for Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) who pulled a fire alarm last weekend in the Capitol as a vote was about to be taken in on a government shutdown.

Plante discussed a story in The New York Post with a picture of the fire alarm that Jamaal Bowman pulled.

“I’m sure The New York Times doesn’t have this story,” added Plante. [Bowman’s] staffers lied to the press about it, I think that’s a seditious conspiracy.”

The article states that Bowman removed the signs, triggered the alarm, and fled in the opposite direction.

“The media says this is a sensible strategy for exiting a building,” he said. “He (Bowman) should be mocked until he’s thrown out of Congress. He should probably face charges just as the January 6th people did for obstructing.”

Chris Plante also says The Washington Post lied about an article that asserted that Robert F. Kennedy running as an independent candidate would hurt Donald Trump’s chances of getting elected in 2024.

“They wake up in the morning and wonder what they’re going to lie about today,” he says, “Give me my keyboard; I’ve got to lie; I’ve got to put it right here in print.”

Free Talk Live co-anchor Ian Freeman received his sentence following a conviction for unlicensed money transmission, money laundering, and tax evasion in December 2022.

U.S. District Court Judge Joseph Laplante sentenced Freeman to 96 months in prison, two years of supervised release, and a fine of $40,000. Furthermore, Freeman was ordered to pay restitution to victims at a later date.

“The defendant’s criminal conduct devastated many vulnerable people,” U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young said. “Dozens of victims were identified during the investigation. Many of them lost their life’s savings by way of Freeman’s Bitcoin money laundering scheme.

“The Court recognized that an important part of this sentence was for the defendant to provide restitution to the victims. In financial crimes cases such as this, providing restitution to victims is one of the highest priorities of the U.S. Department of Justice and this Office.”

According to the press release, Freeman exchanged U.S. dollars for Bitcoin to launder over $10 million from romance scams and other internet frauds. Freeman neglected to follow the legal requirement of registering his business with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.

He also disabled the “know your customer” feature on his Bitcoin kiosks and did not inquire about the purposes for which his customers used their funds. Consequently, his business became attractive to fraudsters. Freeman charged excessively high fees, which enabled him to earn over one million dollars.

“‘Wow, this is where it’s fun to be on the radio’, Clay. This is when you have something to discuss.”

Last week, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) allegedly pulled a fire alarm at the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to derail a vote about funding the government. Buck Sexton joked that topics like this make radio fun.

To begin The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show Monday, Sexton joked that because he was moving last week, he wasn’t certain the story was actually true.

“The most interesting thing that I saw the moment when I was thinking, ‘Wow, this is where it’s fun to be on the radio’, Clay. This is when you have something to discuss. The pulling of a fire alarm by Congressman Jamaal Bowman and the efforts to try to explain this away over the course of the weekend,” said Sexton.

After playing a clip of an MSNBC anchor reading a statement that Bowman claimed it was an accident, Sexton asked Travis how many times he’s accidentally pulled a fire alarm, “Because I know the answer for me is zero”, Sexton said.

“I think this is one so fun because it’s so profoundly stupid,” Travis said with a laugh. The OutKick founder then told a story that he recently set off the alarm at a New York City hotel by opening a fire escape door on the ground level.

“I can’t imagine anybody over the age of like five or six intentionally doing that. And trying to make an excuse because there is no defense in that position,” surmised Travis.
