iHeartMedia’s Florida Division has new leadership as the company announced that Kim Guthrie would be taking over the president position from Linda Byrd, who will retire effective July 15th.

As part of her new role, Guthrie will oversee the operations of the Florida Division for iHeartMedia and report directly to Hartley Adkins, President of iHeartMedia Markets Group.

“At iHeart we pride ourselves on being a ‘talent first’ company, and this decision reflects that commitment. It’s rewarding to find someone who both understands what our listeners need and how to operate in a multi-platform environment,” Adkins said.

“Kim checks every box and more; we’re thrilled she chose to bring her talents to iHeart. Her CEO experience at Cox Media Group makes her uniquely qualified for this position.”

Guthrie brings three decades worth of experience in the industry, with her most recent position coming as President/Chief Executive Officer of Cox Media Group, a role she ascended to in late 2016.

“I am very excited to announce my ‘un-retirement!’ iHeart has become a true employment destination and I am thrilled to be part of America’s #1 audio company,” Guthrie said. “I greatly admire what Bob and Rich have done to transform and expand the company since they took over a decade ago.

“iHeart’s leadership has built a culture of respect, transparency and innovation, and the entire team has made me feel like I can make a difference here. iHeart’s leadership team and vision for the future are a great fit for me and where I feel I can bring the most value.”

The company is home to various news/talk stations in Florida, including Newsradio WFLA, Miami’s BIN 880, NewsRadio 610 WIOD, and 1290 WJNO.

Dave Ramsey: We Have a Simple Strategy For Employee Compensation

“We figure out what people should be paid. We figure out what they can be paid if they went somewhere else. Because we don’t want them to go somewhere else, we want them to work here.”

Dave Ramsey has built a multi-million company from the ground up. But his place in the talk radio landscape is a unique one. While hosting one of the most popular programs in America, he also serves as the Founder, Owner, and CEO of that multi-million company, leading him to talk about how he operates that business.

During his EntreLeadership podcast, Ramsey was approached by a caller asking how to go about asking for a raise because they felt they were underpaid.

That led Ramsey to reveal how he goes about deciding on raises and compensation for his employees at Ramsey Solutions.

“I get emotional about stuff, but having somebody asking about something about pay? I mean, we can talk about it but I’m not gonna give you a raise if you work for us based on a feeling,” Ramsey said. “We don’t do feelings in that regard. You’ll have to take your feelings somewhere else.

“Now a fact? Facts are a good thing. So we do comp studies. We figure out what people should be paid. We figure out what they can be paid if they went somewhere else. Because we don’t want them to go somewhere else, we want them to work here, and we need the help.”

Dave Ramsey concluded by stating their thought process is simply “We want to be fair in our pay, you want to be paid fair, but you’re not asking and you’re not being greedy.”
