Chris Licht has been on the job as President of CNN since February, and announced the first set of major hires during his tenure Monday.

Former NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence & Counterterrorism John Miller has been hired as CNN’s chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst.

“John will help deliver on CNN’s commitment to tackle complex issues while presenting audiences with independent, objective news and meaningful analysis across platforms,” said Licht. “As both a brilliant journalist and experienced, compelling subject matter expert, he brings to the network an incredible breadth of knowledge.”

Miller previously worked with CBS News and ABC News and famously interviewed Osama Bin Laden in 1998. He began work Monday in the network’s New York office.

CNN also announced Dr. Tara Narula as a new medical correspondent. The cardiologist also worked at CBS News before joining CNN.

One of the post-Fox News moves Tucker Carlson teased is to begin the movement to launch his own media company. In October, Carlson scored a significant investment to grow his outlet and secured a major advertising deal.

Carlson’s chief executive told Reuters that their new media company is constructing its base of paying subscribers as they progress toward their launch.

“We’ve opened our site for membership pre-sales,” Neil Patel, co-founder and chief executive, told the outlet. “Once we are comfortable that all of the systems are running well, launch and brand release will follow.”

Patel stated that paying subscribers will have access to exclusive content and behind-the-scenes footage, but he didn’t disclose the pricing.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Carlson incorporated his newly founded media company in Nevada under the name Last Country Inc.

The former Fox News host launched the Tucker on X series after the network fired him in April, and the company is expected to focus on producing video projects, including this series.

Fox News’ streaming platform, FOX Nation, appeared on Morning Consult’s Fastest Growing Brands list for 2023. The report is on the top 20 brands that have experienced a significant increase in purchasing consideration this year.

Additionally, the report examines how this trend affects different generations and identifies the brands that have seen an uptick in purchasing consideration, even if it hasn’t necessarily resulted in a direct increase in sales.

So, where does FOX Nation rank in the top 20? The platform came in No. 14, ahead of YouTube shorts and Instagram, to show how much FOX Nation has risen. Furthermore, it was the only streaming platform on this list.

“Growth was determined by taking the share of consumers who said they were considering purchasing from the brand from Oct. 1-24, 2023, and subtracting the share who said the same from Jan. 1-31, 2023,” the report said.

“The Fastest Growing Brands 2023 analysis was conducted among 1,586 brands. Sample sizes ranged from 1,069 to 17,661 responses collected among U.S. adults, with respective margins of error ranging from +/-3 to +/-1 percentage points.”

The next stop for the Republican primary debate is CNN. After NewsNation hosted a debate Wednesday, the three-letter network announced Thursday that they’ll host debates in Iowa and New Hampshire next month.

CNN has scheduled the first of two primary debates on their network on January 10, 2024, at Drake University in Des Moines. The debate will take place just a few days before the Iowa caucus. Meanwhile, CNN has scheduled the second debate on January 21 at St. Anselm College in Goffstown, New Hampshire.

To participate in CNN’s Iowa debate, candidates must obtain at least 10 percent in three separate national and/or Iowa polls of Republican caucusgoers or primary voters meeting CNN’s reporting standards.

Finally, for candidates to participate in CNN’s New Hampshire debate, candidates must register a minimum of 10 percent in three national and/or New Hampshire polls to qualify for the Republican primary, according to CNN’s reporting standards.

The Iowa debate’s qualifying deadline is on January 2, and the qualifying period for the New Hampshire debate ends on January 16. The organizers will invite candidates who finish among the top three in the Iowa caucuses to participate in the New Hampshire debate.

Hosting two debates comes on the heels of the network announcing that it will have two town hall events with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy next week.
