As President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump get set to face off in the 2024 election, there has been a growing fear that the two would not debate each other. However, the two will now debate each other on June 27th on CNN.

During the Republican primary process, Trump refused to participate in debates, pointing to his status as the front-runner as reason for skipping the long-held tradition.

Earlier this year, a coalition of media organizations sent letters to both the Biden and Trump campaigns imploring the candidates to participate in a series of televised debates.

Throughout the campaign process, neither candidate has been overly committed to appearing in the debates. A war of words between the candidates, however, has enticed a potential debate.

“I’ve received and accepted an invitation from (CNN) for a debate on June 27th,” Biden wrote in a social media post. “Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place.”

That June 27th date would appear to be a previously undisclosed date for a debate. The Commission on Presidential Debates announced dates for three presidential debates last year. The first debate was scheduled for September 16th, the second on October 1st, and a third on October 9th.

Should Robert F. Kennedy Jr. eclipse polling numbers of 15% or higher in four separate national polls, he will be included in the debate. He has until Thursday, June 20th, to garner those figures.

The debate will be held at CNN’s Atlanta studios. No audience will be present, and moderators for the event will be announced at a later date.

Many stories about the credibility of news media members in 2024 is about a decline. However, according to a new poll conducted by Morning Consult and The Hollywood Reporter, many news consumers still have faith in hosts like NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt.

In the study, Holt was listed as the most trusted man in television news, with 63% of respondents saying they had “a lot” or “some” trust in the NBC anchor. Lester Holt has served as the weekday anchor of NBC Nightly News since June 2015.

David Muir, who hosts ABC World News Tonight, wasn’t far behind Holt in the trust category. 63% of those surveyed said they had the trust in the anchor. Meanwhile, CBS Evening News host Norah O’Donnell lagged behind with 53% of those responding similarly.

In the cable news world, CNN saw the top two most trusted hosts and anchors. Both Anderson Cooper and Chris Wallace saw 60% of respondents say they had “a lot” or “some” trust in them.

At MSNBC, Ali Velshi earned 55% of those surveyed’s trust, while Rachel Maddox was at 51%.

Fox News host Harris Faulkner led the way for the conservative cable channel with 53% claiming to trust her. Sean Hannity, who is not a news anchor but an opinion host, only earned the trust of 38% participants.

NewsNation primetime anchor Dan Abrams, who, like Sean Hannity is an opinion host, saw a 48% rating on the trust scale.

Former Fox News hosts Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson, who are also commentators and not anchors, earned scores of 39% and 40%, respectively.

Comedian Bill Maher made just his second-ever appearance on Fox News Monday during an interview with Greg Gutfeld. It turned out to be a record-breaking arrival.

During Monday’s edition of Gutfeld! averaged 2.9 million viewers as the longtime comedian and news host conversed with the Fox News star about a bevy of topics. Included in that 2.9 million figure was 342,000 viewers in the coveted adults 25-54 demographic.

The discussion between the two topped both the late-night cable news ratings, as well as the late-night network shows hosted by Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon. The Fox News program, however, benefits from airing from 10-11 PM ET while the other shows do not start until 11 or 11:35 PM ET.

Since launching in 2021, Gutfeld! has continuously battled for the top spot in the late-night TV ratings, and has frequently bested the network competitors.

During a previous appearance on the Club Random podcast, Bill Maher congratulated Greg Gutfeld on his success, stating while he didn’t “have to love” the heights the Fox News host has reached, he does “have to respect” the success.
