ABC News host George Stephanopoulos scored the first post-debate interview with President Biden last week, and the special program was a ratings winner for the network.
The interview was originally slated to air on This Week with George Stephanopoulos on Sunday morning, with another portion airing on Good Morning America Monday. However, ABC News reversed course and aired the unedited interview in its entirety as a special program on Friday evening.
Early Nielsen reports show more than 8 million people watched the nearly half-hour-long interview between the President and the ABC News host.
That 8 million figure does not include those who streamed the conversation, nor does it include those who viewed the special on digital platforms like Hulu on Saturday after publishing to the streaming service.
During the discussion, Biden made news by telling George Stephanopoulos that his debate performance was simply a “bad night.” He also added that should he lose the race for the White House to former President Donald Trump, he’ll be able to accept that he did his best.
“I’ll feel as long as I gave it my all and I did the good as job as I know I can do, that’s what this is about,” President Biden said.
